The Aston School of Computer Science and Digital Technologies is looking for a Reader or Professor in Cybersecurity to lead and develop its teaching and research activity in cybersecurity. The post holder will be expected to act as mentor to the current cybersecurity team, whilst defining the future Cyber Security research strategy in the school and lead on the recruitment of new staff.
The school is experiencing a period of growth in terms of research activity and student recruitment in the digital sciences: computer science, cyber security, artificial intelligence and data science.
The University has a strongly defined digital strategy, articulated through the Sir Peter Rigby Digital Futures Institute and related research centres; Aston Centre for AI Research and Application (ACAIRA) within the college, the Research Centre for Cybersecurity Innovation (CSI) and the Forensic Linguistic Institute being particularly relevant for the post holder.
The successful candidate will already have a well-developed international track record in one or more areas of cyber security as well as a strong portfolio of publications and grant capture. The successful applicant will also be able to demonstrate strong research leadership.
The position is based in the department of Software Engineering and Cybersecurity, and is expected to contribute direction and mentorship of staff within the department, as well as to contribute to the teaching excellence within the school, in particular in the development of our undergraduate, postgraduate and online portfolio in Cybersecurity.
